Rethink, Innovate for Success
There is a new generation of entrepreneurs doing more with less. They understand the powering of failing fast and rethinking. They have become some of the most valuable companies in the new economy.
Learning Wellth: What would happen if we began to ‘Rethink’ the status quo?
In my new book Antidote I recall a time I learned about the power of being able to fail fast and keep innovating!
On one of my rides, I met a man who was creating an online appointment application. Despite its promising start with a significant customer base, the company was now struggling. They were up against competitors with much more marketing than he was willing to spend. Nevertheless, I could see this was a great opportunity.
The situation reminded me of an Entrepreneur Summit with Bill Hambrecht I had attended a few years before. He spoke about young, innovative companies that were rethinking the way we buy goods and services. He had helped to launch Amazon, Airbnb, and Uber as public companies. This new generation of players, he said, were doing more with less. They understood the power of rethinking. And they would become the most valuable companies in the new economy.
I got involved in the scheduling project, and as we refined the service by rethinking, testing, failing, innovating, and finally, we began to succeed! By embracing failure as a catalyst for growth, and relentlessly pursuing innovation, we transformed a setback into a success story. We were able to scale to thousands of clinics, fulfilling our vision to change the way pet parents schedule their appointments and communicate with staff at the vet hospital.
